Now I'm back ... back from my shortest trip to Sweden ever, filled with a great concert, nice talks, a ride through winter Sweden and a big bag of good memories.
This travel seemed to be under a bad sign again. Friday after work I went to my driving lesson and when that was over to the band x-mas party. I had only slept 5 hours after the x-mas party at work the night before.
I was trying to get to this day's x-mas party, which was not that easy, since Berlin's public transport is always out of order as soon as one snowflake reaches the train tracks or the ground. So while I was trying to get from one part of the city to the opposite, my mom, who was joining our trip to Sweden was caught in her train to my home, which was like half an hour late and Anja was still caught in a train in Hamburg, which was not going. 3 trains before had already been cancelled, this one had to be de-iced because otherwise the brakes wouldn't work. It would be bad sitting in a very fast train without functioning brakes, so waiting was worthwhile :)
Anja arrived a lot later than expected, but she made it. But this was only the first step to be taken until we would arrive in Sweden. Iwas home around 1 in the morining ... we had to get up at 5 to be at the airport in time.
After I awoke I turned on the computer to watch the flight. My Swedish friend wanted to go to Spain the same day with stop in Berlin, so she would have to take the same plane we had to take in the other direction so I checked first if her flight was in time.
My heart stopped beating when I read that her flight had been cancelled. "This can't be true ... not again ... am I not supposed to see that X-mas concert?" I thought when I typed our flight number with shaking hands. No note for our flight though ....
We left home as planned, it was so cold. I realized that the bus I had planned to take was not going that early on Saturdays so we tried another, had to switch the bus ... waited an eternity outside in the cold, made it to the airport finally - still in time. But the airport was crowded. I had never seen that many people at terminal C in Tegel's airport as yesterday. They were everywhere. Anja and I had to drop off the bagage, while my mom went to the security check. The flight was about to board and we were still standing at the drop off because they had problems with the conveyors. When Anja's bagage was checked in I had to wait there another 10 minutes until I got rid of my suitcase. Anja had passed the security by then.
At the end we made it in time since the flight was late, but the most important thing was that there was a flight at all. Arrived in Sweden we got our car and went to the hostel. Although we have had a huge delay with the flight we were still too early for the hostel as we learned, so we went for lunch before we could check in the hostel.
It was our first time in house 1 of Slottskogen's vandrahem and I really have to say that I won't stay there anymore if I can't have a room in house 2. It's not that house 1 is more oldfashioned but house 2 seems to be cleaner. you can read about that part of the travel soon on my other blog
travel experience.
We got prepared and drove up to Kinnarp where the concert was taking place. It was in a huge sport hall, they had sold 250 tickets until the day before. When we arrived Jenny, Jakob and Greger were already doing rehearsals. I heard "Air Of Love" right in the minute we entered the hall. When we stepped in a man came to us and told us that it's not open yet. I told him we are here to meet up with Jenny. He asked me if we had tickets, I told him we hadn't but he should talk to Jenny. He didn't seem to believe me and send one of the other men standing around to ask if she was expecting people.
In that moment the door was opened. We saw Jenny on stage, she saw us too and waved. I waved back and she waved that we should come in. In the moment I took my first step to enter the actual location the man from before closed the door. I didn't know what to do so we kept waiting for the other man to be back. He came out a couple of seconds later and told us we could go in.
Jakob, Jenny and Greger were still checking the sound. Simon Petrén was also arround to do the sound. Jenny welcomed us and Jakob was waving "Hi" as well. While the soundcheck was ongoing we prepared ourselves, which means camera check :) When we had finished the first people from the audience came in. Half an hour later the place was full. We learned later that there were over 400 people this evening which is amazing thinking of how small that little city was.
Short after 7 Jenny & Co. entered the stage and started to perform. The program can't really be described because there are no words that would match this incredible show. They had traditional songs, songs from Psalmer För Livet, My Story, some from the original program and nice instrumentals. The mixture was just perfect.

But this wasn't this great concert was followed up after a small break by a lecture presenting Jenny's book. The lecture was shorter than unsual but interesting as always :) At the end they finished with "Give Me The Faith".
It was just an amazing evening.
When everything was finished people hurried to the table where Jenny was selling and signing books and CDs while Jakob and Simon started to pack their stuff together. Within half an hour all the tables and chairs in the hall were gone. We had a small chat with Simon and a little longer one with Jakob talking about his coming projects while Jenny was still signing and signing.
It seemed that the whole audience wanted to purchase either a book, cd or both, which was incredible. When that part was done we had the chance to talk a bit with Jenny, to get some CDs signed. After a while she told us that she had to help the 2 guys.
When she was gone we started slowly to get our things together and prepare ourselves for the way back to Gothenburg.
Jenny, Jakob and Simon were still carrying huge boxes into their car when we went to them to say our goodbyes until next year. We wished each other a merry Christmas and a happy new year, waved a last time and went to our car.
