another year ends

so another year is over and I have to admit that I went through a lot of different stages of happiness and sadness this year. To draw a line at the end of the year I have to say that I achieved like 95% of the goals I had this year.

And of course I will continue the query I found last year:

1. Did you do anything you haven't done before?
I passed my driving license this year, bought my first car and bought something else which I don't wanna reveal here :)

2. Did you keep any of your new year's promises from 2010?
Nope.

3. Became any of your friends parents this year?
Yep. Little Malte was born and I haven't met him yet :( I make this to one of my new year's wishes for next year ;)

4. Did someone close to you die?
No, not that I know...

5. Which countries have you been to?
Sweden again 3 times only this year and Spain, Tenerife

6. Is there anything that you missed in 2010 and that you want to have in 2012?
I just paste the ones from last year: more freetime, fun and love...

7. Which date from 2011 do you remember
January 24th driving practical test, May 24th when I got my car, July 28th my brithday awesome concert from Jakob and Greger, July 31st nice music from Terese and Simon that's all I can think of right now...

8. What was you biggest success in 2011
My driving test I think and I decided to start school again

9. Biggest regret
too little time again and that I seem to go through life with my eyes closed ah and some bad parking habits

10. Have you been sick or damaged?
Thank God no!

11. Best buy
My car ...

12. What did you spend most money at?
My car and traveling again...

13. Did something make you really happy?
Again I have to answer music and Jenny concerts and lectures

14. Which songs will always remind you of 2011?
Album wise I go for Terese Fredenwall's "Not about the songs" album. Fave song 2011 is Fireworks by Katie Perry. This song is so true!

15. Have you been happier or more sad than the past years?
Both again... I had some really happy days but also a lot of blue ones. I think I just have to accept that I changed as the person I am which means that I'm a lot more emotional than I used to be...

16. What do you wish to have done more?
I wish I had taken more time to be creative which I'm gonna change next year.

17. What do you wish you had done less?
I wish I had spent less time at the computer playing games and had used my time elsewhere but on the other hand I wasn't capable ...

18. How did you spend X-mas?
Again at home with my Mom traditional visiting Church and spend time together as a family...

19. Have you been in love this year?
No... not really.

20. Fave program on TV?
I discovered "The Big Bang Theory" and "How I Met Your Mother" which I really like for a good laugh :)

21. Best book in 2011?
Since I'm driving to work now I didn't have time to read that many books but I read some interesting ones from Åke Edwardsson

22. Biggest musically discoveries?
Terese Fredenwall all year through :)

23. Something you wished when you had your B-day?
No... not really

24. Something you wished but didn't get?
yepp....

25. What did you do on your B-day 2011?
Went to a concert of Jakob Petén and Greger Siljebo

26. Is there anything that could have made your year any better?
yep... some love

27. How would you describe your stile ion 2011?
independent ;)

28. What made you feel good?
friends and music

29. Which celeb have you been longing to see?
None celeb ...

30. Who did you miss?
None particular ... not more than regular...

31. The best people you met?
all the people I love :) YOu know who you are :)

OK now I'm off for celebrations :) Happy New Year to all of you my readers :))) Love you :)

A week off and a bad day

I know, I know it's been a loooooong while since wrote my last blog entry. I thought so many times that I should write again... but then again nobody actually cares if I write the blog or not, so probably nobody even noticed.

It's interesting that you mostly (if not reporting from traveling through Sweden) write blogs when you are bored... which I'm not atm. I'm going to school, having my regular job and I'm in negotiations for the contract of my new apartment.

Today I had an appointment at the bank to sign the contracts. But my morning started with being waked up by the regulatory authority who told me that my car is parked on the wrong location and that I should be lucky that they didn't remove it because that would be more expensive than the 75 € that it costs me now.... but right before Christmas and with the upcoming move this was so not on my list.

Later on I'm going to school ... wondering what will happen then.

2nd concert this weekend - Terese Fredenwall in Halle

I just returned from Today's concert of Terese Fredenwall, Simon Petrén and Tobias Jonasson at "The Irish Fiddler" in Halle and I'm pretty exhausted. I guess so are the others that were actually working but they are currently on the road again to get to Jüterbog while Anja is already asleep and I'm sitting in the strange bed of the even stranger youth hostel and check the internet and apparently write this posting.

Before we left Leipzig we made some sight seeing until lunch time. The weather was beautiful like the whole weekend already and we made like hundreds of pictures of the very old buildings, were in the Thomaschurch where they were rehearsing for monday's concert.

After that we went to Halle, which is pretty nice also, but the streets suck I can tell. We did even the sightseeing here today, a lot of other very old buildings followed.

In the evening Terese was playing. She did 3 sets of songs and the place was so crowded that you couldn't move. Anja and I had some exclusive seats and took again hundreds of pictures. Terese played almost all our favorites and a lot more. Also some great cover versions of well known songs.

In the breaks between the sets Anja and I sold her CDs and had a lot of fun promoting her.

Pictures will come later. But I'm off for bed now, because it's soooo early already ;)

hugs

Terese Fredenwall in Leipzig and a day off

This week was pretty full of dates, monday I was at Roxette's concert in Berlin, which was pretty awesome, Tuesday I was so tired but worked long, Wednesday school and yesterday it was NRW time from 4:25 in the morning to 23:00 in the night. The good thing is that I was off today and will be off on monday as well.

We went to Leipzig today in the afternoon. Even though I was off from work today it wasn't really my day. Everything that could go wrong, went wrong today, talking about how to get winter tires on my car and not having the right screws, being late almost the whole day (I hadn't even packed my suitcase 2 hours before the trip and was recharging cameras in a hurry), being in the never ending traffic jam that is happening in Berlin every day but especially on Fridays when the whole city is getting somewhere else. So we had a big delay of almost 1 hour when we arrived in Leipzig. The last I had eaten were 2 toast around lunch time so we were starving (I don't even know what Anja had for lunch). We arrived at the hostel 6:15 pm and the concert was to start in about 1:45 hour. We just got changed, prepared the room and off we went. We thought that we would find something to eat on the way there.... but nope. So we went around in Leipzig trying to find something to eat with the HUGE bag packs we have. But nothing. I wasn't able to carry on going or to think.

So we went to that English Room Terese would play at. When we stepped in the lady at the counter told us in ENGLISH that we could leave our coats in another room and pay afterwords. I was looking at her and thought she thought we must be from abroad having so much stuff with us, while Terese is still pretty unknown here in Germany. So I told her that we do understand German and she was giving me a not understanding look. SO did Anja. When we went into the room where we would leave our jackets she told me if I wouldn't think that there is a connection between the ENGLISH ROOM and English speaking people. I was looking at Anja then, thinking about what she said. In the same moment we started laughing soooooo bad. This coincidence became the running gag of today's evening.

The concert was cool and so was the location. It was like sitting in someone else's living room. Very familiar and intimate.

We got to chat with someone from Australia, who was funny and interesting and had some good laughs  with Terese, Simon, Bengt and Tobias.

Pictures are going to be uploaded very soon I guess. Tomorrow we will have some sight seeing and then we are going to Halle in the afternoon. Tomorrow is the second concert - this time in an Irish Pub - but now I'm prepared, no more German if another nationality is involved in the name of the location ;)

Sleep tight;)

My chaos morning with the Pope - taking me to Hamburg

Today something funny happened, which I definitely have to write about. I woke up far too early but couldn't sleep anymore so I decided to go to work to get some paperwork done before the others arrive. When I drove I realized that the pope would be in town today, which actually doesn't effect me - I thought.  I left home 6:10 am

I had to disagree when I saw that the street was closed 3 minutes from my job around the Bellevue castle, since the pope would be there (I learned later), so I turned to the right, turned left, decided to let my GPS do the work, which I programmed while I was driving. So it send me right, left right .... through a street I knew was not close to my job, but the GPS has to be right - I thought. When I entered the motorway I doubted that this was the right way, since I was almost passing my home again ..... but I couldn't leave it at this point... which I did when the GPS suddenly said please go on the next 30 km.

30 km??? what was wrong? I left the motorway, parked the car and checked the GPS to realize that my "favorite" button for work was right under the button for work Anja - Hamburg. So I was almost going to Hamburg.

Of course most of the city was closed when I finally noticed my mistake and got back in the other direction, which took me all in all 1,5 hours / normally it takes 20-30 minutes .... When I arrive at work it was 7:30 am ...

Geez what a day... I had the thought while I was driving that I would have converted to another religion if I was catholic today :))

Concert Terese Fredenwall in Oehna (Flugplatz)

Yesterday was the second concert of our little concert weekend. The gig took place in Oehna, in the middle of nowhere in Brandenburg. It was so hidden that even our GPS didn't find it.

When we arrived the band was already rehearsing and we were starving. The original plan was to get something to eat before the arrival. McDonald's was the word, which we didn't find in the nowhere we were :) So the little snackshop next to the hangars was ok, we would have eaten whatever actually.
When we had finished our french fries we didn't have to wait that long before we could enter the location. It was beautiful with all those small airplanes and hangars. I have never been so close to aircrafts on a field lol. Bengt and Simon arrived at the same time as we and Bengt showed us his plane and we talked about it and that it was pretty old. The engine is from the 50's and he is able to fix everything on his own. We looked into his plane and as much as I trust Bengt, I don't think I would ever get into this aircraft...

The concert was supposed to start at 4 p.m. but when only 5 people arrived 3:50 pm I was a bit worried that maybe no one would come to see the concert and this beautiful location. Even a small pre-act was there so I was hoping they would pull some people there since they seemed to be from the surrounding.
But then people came. It were about 50, which was unexpected. The concert started and was as nice as the day before but totally different with this unique location. Terese had asked me the night before if I would do the translation for the audience, so I did it. I rather sucked since I was standing between her and the speaker and didn't hear part of the things she said. I tried lipreading which worked well at the end :)) Anyway I had fun.

When the concert was over we learned that the group was going to Regensburg the same evening. What a ride. We took some pictures from the whole bunch in front of the WOP airplane. While they were still packing their stuff we had to leave to head home.

Thanks again to Terese Fredenwall, Simon Petrén, Elin Sydhage, Emil Sydhage, Marcus Johansson and Tobias Jonasson for those incredible memories and the great music. We already made plans to visit their next concerts in Leipzig and Halle at the end of October. Looking forward.

Concert Terese Fredenwall in Oranienburg

Friday I was going to a concert of my Swedish friend Terese Fredenwall, who was playing live in Oranienburg, north of Berlin. I did my apprentice in Oranienburg and was quite sure that I wouldn't go back to that town... if it wasn't for Terese and her Project "Wings of Protection".

Wings of Protection is a project founded by Swedish priest Bengt Fiske years ago and Terese Fredenwall who joined this project 1,5 year ago. Together they are raising money for children that don't have a save home or are living on the streets. Bengt was working many years with kids on the streets of Berlin and also Regensburg and also with prostitudes. They both have my full respect for what they are doing for those forgotten people.

Anja came from Hamburg and brought 2 of her friends and we had an incredible evening there. The concert was great. There are no words for how much I admire those people for what they are doing and how long they go just to play a concert for those people and to speak about Jesus and God and how everyone can make lonely people feel comfortable.

Anyway even if it was a serious pupose I had so much fun. Especially in the end when Anja, Simon and I started a photography war.

Oh and to make some advertisement for this great project I can recommend Terese's albums "Colours From My Heart" and "Not About The Songs".

Changes

A lot is gonna change now in my life... well right now it doesn't feel like that but I know that it is gonna happen. I'm starting school again tomorrow, apart from my job that keeps me busy enough actually. But I decided to go a step forward and do something for myself instead of taking care of everything else that is not connected to my life and myself. So tomorrow it's gonna start. It's pretty exciting esp. since I promised myself in the beginning of this year when I passed my DL that this was the last test in my life. But never say never, right? And the decision was hard, because I had to give up my Swedish choir for that. Well I didn't give it up but I won't be able to go there as long as I have school, I can only be part of it during holidays and other school days that are off...

So I will see what is going on from tomorrow on and how I can handle that one also along with my other activities.

What is going on in Berlin?

Since about a week people are setting cars on fire and the senate and the government is not able to get a hand on the people or prevent the public from those... every night they set fire on more cars and leave a path of destruction through the city.... one week ago we had even a bomb exploding in a park not far from my home.

What is happening in my country that felt so save before ...

last day ... relaxing and going home

Sunday! Tomorrow I'm at work again and again it feels strange that those 3 weeks of holidays are over already. I went home from my hometown to Berlin in the afternoon, spent some hours behind the computer and now I'm sitting in front of the TV watching some DVDs and enjoying the evening. Earlier this evening we had so much rain that it seemed the world is drowning and after that we had the most beautiful sun set. I think the weather is going to be better now that my holidays are over ... no idea what's wrong with the weather this year...

Currently watching "New York Mum" - still don't like Uma Thurman...

day 20 changed plans ... more shopping without buying

The original plan was to go to the baltic sea, but that was when I thought holidays in summer means warm and sunny weather... since it was raining the whole week I changed plans and drove in some furniture shops to get some ideas. I'm really longing for a new apartment and waiting for a final answer which is most probably a no is just annoying. I want to get started finally, I want a change in my life, now... I really want this apartment...

day 19 2 moves in one day

Friday my friend Ben moved into another apartment. Before that happened we had to move the former tenant of his room into her new apartment. We started at 8:00 a.m. so I had to get up early because I had to drive through the whole city. It was amazing how fast everything went so that we finished the second move around lunch. Then we just had to build the furniture and put the things on their places. This was the fun part of this move.

The aching muscles the day after weren't lol ;)

day 18 rain and more rain ... visiting a museum

As you can read in the title of this blog it was raining the whole morning- perfect weather for a visit of Berlin's Museum of Nature Science. I was there the last time when I was in primary school probably at the age of 9 and in my memory it was huge with all kinds of animals, bugs and butterflies. But when I was going through the exhibition I realized that they took away most of the interesting stuff and all that was left besides dinosaurs were stones and rocks of different ages of the earth ... boring ;) I liked the stuffed animals though there were just a lot less than I remembered. When I came out of the museum the sun was shining again so I took a looooong walk through the city center first from the museum to the central station and from there to the Alexanderplatz.

day 17 lunch in Poland

The weather was still cloudy and rainy on Wednesday so the plan was to go to Poland ... shopping again ... so I drove 100 km to Poland, when I arrived I was starving, but ended up on the wrong market. Didn't find anything there, drove to the next market, had lunch ....

When I ordered lunch I asked for the price, when I had to pay the food was 1,5 € more expensive. I complained, but they didn't care. Can you believe that? I didn't find anything else to buy either. But I mostly like looking more than actually buying anyway, so it was OK. It was just frustrating that I was actually driving to Poland and back just for a too expensive lunch ;)

day 16 2 viewings and 1 injection

Tuesday was a rather practical day in my vacations. I had 2 viewings of apartments, both of them were crap, since too far from the city center and too much work to do until you can actually live there, which I don't mind but the price was far too high for that. in between I visited my doctor to get my last allergy injection for now. Yes that's right I'm done with that although I still have problems with allergies. But the doctor thinks it's better to wait and see instead of starting another year of a monthly injection which is probably a mixture of different poisons lol. I have no clue, just know that the insurance has to pay a fortune for that. Anyway I will do what the doctor says wait and see. I'm gonna start to write an allergy diary probably to get a summery of when and why I'm having allergies lol sounds boring lol

day14 & 15 relaxing and bad weather

day 14: even if it sounds boring I didn't do anything specific this day besides enjoying the sun and feeding the ducks ;)

day 15: Since I finally have a car I decided to drive around in my home country a bit lol to see a little bit more from the land around Berlin so I went to a town called Neuruppin. I was expecting sun but it was getting more and more cloudy the closer I came to this town and when I finally arrived it was raining. I wanted to take a walk in the woods but it was raining so bad that I soon decided to go to the city center to see a bit of the city. I had driven 80 km so I just didn't want to get back. When I arrived in the city the sun was shining again but the wind was still so cold and I was still not prepared for that. After I froze a little bit more I went back home ;)

day 13 shopping in Berlin

My 13th day of holidays I spent shopping basically and I met up with my friend Ben to get an update about the things that went on while I was in Sweden. I went to Ikea before and did some shopping there. After the meeting with Ben I went also to the groceries and bought some nice books.

day 12 lazy day

I started the morning with a sleep in ... honestly I slept until 9:30 am which is very unusual. Then I started to download the videos which I took while being in Sweden and I'm still stuck with that ;) I posted some comments on TAB ... had some good laughs.

Now I'm getting ready from my trip to my hometown to get my car.

kudos to Sara :)

For actually commenting my blog and not only reading :)

And because I don't wanna let that sentence stand alone here I will post some pictures as well :)

The first picture is taken from my balcony just the day before I traveled to Sweden:

This picture was taken in Fristad when the concert of Jakob and Greger was over and we were waiting for them outside the Church:

vacation day 11 - it's raining but no men

what's wrong with the German weather? Isn't it supposed to be summer, huh? But no. The day started with a little sun and since lunch it's raining.... so bad. I just returned from a store since I needed to buy some things; I seem to be run out of everything here in my appartment and I got wet allover, although I had an umbrella.

Summer vacations imply that you are supposed to have sun, no? At least in my world it does ... but not in the real world. So I leave you alone now, still being grumpy about the weather ;)

day 10 - Goodbye Sweden

So we got up at 4 a.m. I had barely slept tonight, because I was afraid I wouldn't hear the alarm clock. We had to clean the room before we left as well.

We arrived at the airport just in time but the flight was late. Everything else worked fine though. I slept most of the flight. Here in Berlin the weather was as nice as the Swedish one and I really hope it's gonna stay like that until the end of my holidays.

I made the first update on The Jenny Source and did the first laundry. I will probably go to bed early today, because I'm really exhausted ;)

day 9 - the last day in Sweden meeting up with friends

At our last day in Sweden I didn't run. We met up with my friend L. who had returned from Romania the night before and spent most of the day with her. Strolling once again through the city, sitting at the harbor chatting about all and everything. I haven't seen her since winter so we had a lot to catch up. She is moving to Mallorca within some weeks so we don't have a clue when we are gonna see each other again. It feels surreal to know that she is probably not in Gothenburg anymore when I come there next. We know each other for 10 years now so it will be strange for sure.

In the evening we had another nice appointment at Götaplatsen with Jenny B. Since we had made an interview in October that never made it online we agreed to do the same interview again with recent answers, because it's pointless to release an interview that is almost 1 year old. Jenny arrived with a cab waving at us. It was nice to see her again. We were talking about what we had done the past days, that we enjoyed Jakob's and Greger's concert and also Terese and Simon singing. Then Jenny asked us if we know the secret of the fountain at Götaplatsen. We didn't so she introduced us to that secret and we were laughing so bad... If you wanna know what it is about just go to the 3rd entrance of Konserthuset and take a look at the statue and you will know...

So we went up to the top of the art museum to look for a good angle for the interview. We started with it right after we found a nice place. Jenny answered the questions. After that we made a small photo shooting. The people around us were probably wondering what this was all about. After the photo session we went into a restaurant where we had dinner. We talked a lot about how we have been. Around midnight we said our goodbyes. The night was short, because the flight today was at 6:50 a.m. already, which means only 4 hours of sleep.

Here is my outcome of the pictures. More can be found on The Jenny Source

day 8 - moving into Slottskogen's hostel and another relaxing day

Monday was they day of our move and it was so hot and sunny again, which was great. In the morning I went for a run to and through Slottskogen, since it was not close to that far away as I thought it was. I ran to the park in less than 7 minutes.

We took it easy this morning since we had to pack our suitcases but couldn't enter the room before 2 p.m. so we spent some time in Slottskogen's park again until we got the room. After we had installed ourselves we were strolling around Linnéstan went into the city, had a walk around the harbor which we haven't visited before. We ended our walk in Haga. I just love this part of the city with the small and narrow streets and all those shops.
Summer in Sweden is just awesome :)

day 7 - Sunday - time for more music in Tranemo & a Deja Vu

Sunday was relaxing again ... can't remember when I was relaxing so much the last time. We went to Tranemo this day since Terese Fredenwall and Simon Petrén were playing there. Again we had to drive through Borås and reached Tranemo after a 1,5 hours drive.

We did a walk through the city, which is rather small. The first service started at 3 p.m. so we went to that Church in the middle of nowhere. The Church was really pretty inside with a lot of sculptures and colours. Very beautiful.

Anja and I were sitting on a bench when Terese and Simon arrived. Now that was a surprise for them as Terese told me immediately. They went inside the Church and so did we. The Service started short after.

Terese started her program with one of my favorite songs from her album "Närmare Mig" called Daniels sång. She told that this was about a boy who didn't have a father since his first father didn't want to see him and his second father didn't want to adopt him. At the end he realized that he had a father in God. You could see that Terese was still touched by this memory when she told the audience about it.

When the service was over we went to the big Church in the centre of Tranemo since there was another service with them at 5 p.m. When we had taken our seats, Terese and Simon were already rehearsing, a woman walked up to me and asked me if I was singing too. I told her I wasn't ... did wonder a bit what that was all about but it wasn't the first time I got that question in Sweden, so I didn't really think about that anymore.

Also this service was very nice with a lot of good music. They even sang a song which I sang years ago in Church and had totally forgotten about. Isn't it always strange when I hear a certain song and although you have forgotten about it you can still remember the lyrics and the melody? That's music, you just gotta love that ;)

After the service we packed our mini studios together. People were going to Terese and Simon to wish them well, another women walked up to me, looking at me, saying. "Is it you that is Jenny?" I must have looked like a cow when the thunderstorm comes - as we say in German lol - I was like: "No, I'm Jessica."
"Oh, she said I thought you were Jenny, but you are a part of the Petrén family?" - I told her being a friend...
Now that was weird. Anja was just laughing saying, now you know why they wanted you to sing.

Anyway we gathered with Terese and Simon and had some nice chat before we were heading home again...

day 6 - women's day - shopping, music and nature

We started quite early this day to leave for our trip to Freeport. I bought of course far too much stuff that I actually don't need, which I in that case need very urgently. Isn't it always like that? Your closet is filled until it bursts and still you need this and that.

So after Freeport we went to Kungsbacka, where the Kungsbacka Party was right in the middle. The son of my friend was playing there with his band Maddox Street. It was pretty cool. They played basically their own stuff but it was nice to hear.

After the concert was over we went to the beach and even though Anja and I were so warm from the sun, the water just seemed freezing cold. We spent there the rest of the day and we were starving when we came back. The chicken we were eating took an eternity to get hot.

day 6 - no clue what we did this day

really .... Anja and I have now thought about what we did this day ... but we just don't know ... nothing left in the brain from this date. Strange, isn't it?

edit: ok I found out that I mixed up the dates lol sooooo... I gotta change the blogs after this one ;)

day 5 going to Gunneboslottet ... and the mistery with the mixing up of dates part 1

We had no idea what to do this day so we went to the Gunnebo castle. I had never been there but sqw always the signs leading there so I wanted to see it. Unfortunately we missed those BIG huge signs and ended up in Borås once again ... we turned around and went back and guess what, on our way back we found the castle.

It wasn't that exciting though, so we spent there 1-2 hours and drove back. When I was sitting in the car again I received an sms from the friend we are actually staying at wishing me Happy Birthday. I wasn't sure if this sms was just late or if he had mixed up the dates.

Since Anja and I were so hungry we stopped by at Burger King. I don't like Burger Kind at all because mostly you get burned food or raw food or outside burned and inside still frozen food. This time we got a chicken burger that was drown in mayonnaise. Disgusting I can tell...

Thank God we got some alcohol when we were back home... or was it medicine again? Whatever it was, it worked. After that we drank some bad wine and discussed the Birthday issue. I found out that he was mistaken by the days... thought it was Wednesday whle it was Thursday already...

oh and I ran on this day just around the area ...

day 4 my birthday and a concert in Fristad

I went running again and ended up at Stigbergs torget this time. It's interesting to discover a city while running and exhausting. When I was back home Anja was awake already singing Happy Birthday for me. We were relaxing in Slottskogen's park, walking through Linnéstan. In the afternoon we went to Fristad.

The concert wouldn't start before 8 p.m. so we had enough time for some ice cream and to discover the surrounding. We had just checked around the Church and found some nice place to sit when we heard 2 motorcycles. While the first one was passing us I said to Anja that it would be fun if that were the guys... the 2nd one passing us and waving. In that moment I realized that the first motorcyclist had a violin on his back. They were turning around at the end of the street and driving towards us. Jakob lifted his helmet and said "See you inside!". Both were driving back to the Church then.

Anja and I enjoyed the sun a little more. Soon we got ready to go back to the car. The guys had parked their motorcycles in front of the Church and it looked awesome when we passed that place.

We got ready in the car, grabbed our stuff and went inside the Church. Jakob and Greger were rehearsing around the organ and we took our seats. We were checking the lights and the angles while Jakob and Greger came downstairs t rehearse on the piano as well. We learned that one of the strings was just broken and Greger had just renewed it so they needed some extra practice...

The concert was great. Nice instrumental songs incl. one I knew from the Aurum Trio album, then my all time favorite "Var morgon ny" (also from this album), some baptism and confirmation song that Greger had written for his Godson and one that Jakob had written for his. And so much more which I don't remember right now.

After the concert was over Jakob came over and told us that this was the first concert with this program and about his future plans with music. Someone told us then that we had to leave the Church. So Anja and I went outside while Jakob and Greger changed clothes for their way back on the motorcycles. So while they were packing their machines we got to chat a little bit more.

We said our goodbyes and got a hug from both each and drove back.

When we had passed Borås suddenly someone was driving behind us. The light was so intense and we saw that it was Jakob on his motorcycle. He passed us after some seconds and drove into the night...

day 2 & 3: the journey to Sweden

Yesterday we were relaxing mostly getting ready for the trip to Sweden. The flight was going 9:30 p.m. and even then it was late .... so we missed the opening hours of the car rental and Anja looked sad when I arrived with the suitcases since they had closed the counter 5 minutes before she arrived. At the end we were clever enough to stop by the information point where the key were laying since they obviously knew that the flight was late. We got a Renault Clio...

Today the sun was shining. Of course since I decided yesterday last minute to leave by bikini and short pants home, since the weather forecast said +22°C, which I knew is toooooo cold for me. I learned today that 24°C is perfectly esp. when you are sitting right in the sun ;) So the weather was nice and after we had done an important thing at one office we decided to go to Skärhamn. We had been there one time during winter time and wanted to know how it looks like in summer :) So today was the day. It was nice, we found a nice place to sit at the sea ... first in the gras, which was nice until we realized that the ground was so wet that our pants got wet.... we moved and found out that we were just sitting on a hill of ants .... we changed a third time and there we were ... relaxing ;)

Oh and in the morning I did my very first run on Swedish ground... that was funny too. Esp. when I came back with breakfast and Anja was still in bed... and I thought that I didn't have a key for the door downstairs. I was waiting outside for 15 minutes until a neighbor told me that the door was open... yeah I know that's silly me.

Tomorrow is my birthday... no plans made so far.

day 1 of my holidays: FSME injection, mechanics and Italian food

The title of my blog says basically that today was a stressful day even though I was off today. I had spent the last night at my family home so my day started early with a family breakfast, a visit at the gas station and driving my mom to work. I went back to my family home, finished my secret project, drove to the mechanics, drove to the doctor to get my FSME injection which was due, went to some stores, went to my home and left some things... drove back to my family home, drove my mom home, left my car, went to Berlin, caught Anja at the station, had a nice Italian dinner with her, watched 2 movies and now it's around midnight what a day...

I got a lot things done today, which is a big pro. As I wrote I got the first step of my project done... I was working on it for the past 8 months and it feels good. For me it's one of the biggest things I've ever done, even though I don't know yet where the journey will go ;)

Oh and what I realized today ... it's half a year ago that I took my driving license. Can't believe it's already 6 months ago...

Tomorrow evening Anja and I will start out trip to Sweden. I don't know how often I will be able to post but I try to update this blog more often than during our last traveling...

Holiday .... celebrate

Finally it's holiday, even though the weather sucks atm. I'm 3 weeks off! Yey!!! Well I was on holiday 6 weeks ago already when I went to Tenerife and Hamburg but the past weeks were soooo busy again that I just need those 3 more weeks.

I just decided to go on with my secret project to finally finish it, haven't worked on it since January and later I will go to the mall, see if I can find some shoes.

one week left

I know for most of the people it seems that I am traveling all the time, which also means for most of the people I know that I'm constantly on vacations lol that is in fact not true!

Anyway one week - 5 days - of work left and then I'm 3 weeks off. One week I will spend in my beloved Sweden. Unfortunately I won't be able to update my blog as much as I used to during the past trips but I hope I can deliver some reports though. I have some important things to do during my stay and I hope I get everything sorted.

But until the moment I can go on my journey I have also aaaaa loooot of things to do. as always. Today I did the first things.

Oh and yesterday I went to Berlin's outlet. That's the good thing in having a car, even though I'm still not used to being mobile ...

another rainy day

... sounds like a good song lol ... but no it's just another rainy day here in Germany. Isn't it supposed to be summer? Obviously not since I wore long sleeves again today. Not much to report though besides that it was soooo cloudy today that you could barely tell what time it was all day long...

I spent most of the day in meetings and had to leave early for a doctor's appointment. I was desperately looking for a car space today in Spandau (part of Berlin). It took me about 30 minutes to find a car space... I was late for my appointment and home around 7. That's what left of the evening. It's still raining...

Pictures

The sky was pretty cool yesterday night so I took some pictures when I came home in the middle of the night of the skyline I see looking out of my bedroom window...

My car

it's been a month now that I have my car and I'm still not used to it. I can't really see that I someday will use it without thinking about it. I have to admit that a small crash that I had while visiting Anja in Hamburg did the rest. I'm terrified of parking. This might sound strange for every driver that is used to that but for me it's just horror.

Either way I learn something new every day, that's the good part ;)

I'm sorry that I don't have a picture of my car to post yet...

R.I.P. Brice

When someone dies it always leaves an emptiness in peoples life and hearts. When someone dies that you don't really know it still feels surreal, at least it is what I feel today when I realized after I read a message on a board yesterday that someone I barely know chose to leave this world. I can't really say/ write why it touches me so hard I never could imagine... Is it because he was my age? Is it because we shared a community which still feels like a family even if there are fights and arguments every now and then and which I thought I left behind long ago? I have no clue. Having rain outside all day long doesn't make things better.

I really hope that he is in a better place now and feels the happiness and joy again.

So R.I.P. Brice, you will be missed, I'm sure.

It's vacation time :)

This years pre-summer-vacation brought me to Tenerife. I have no idea where the idea come from that I have to visit al Canarian Island's. I don't have a time limit either. But since I was on Gran Canaria last year, this year it's supposed to be Tenerife.

Could I imagine that this island is full of surprises? No .... not those for sure. Last year we had up to +40 °C in the shadow, this year we have 23 and seem to have end up at the wrong side of the island.

When I arrived on Sunday it was cloudy, then I got on the bus, we passed cloudy, sunny, cloudy.... sunny cloudy, darker clouds, even darker clouds .... stop at the hotel. It would be gone by tomorrow I told myself. It turned out to be wrong I learned the day after, when I woke up and realized IT WAS RAINING!!! What kind of paradise is that? I didn't get into a better mood watching the weather report of German TV that talked about the hottest day of the year so far and sun in the whole country. Looking out of the window told me I am in the wrong place.

I got up ..... the rain got a little less. After breakfast I checked if the hotel got internet and got to know it is broken... plus Monday was national holiday so no internet for me... I told myself that this was my chance to relax but I'm addicted what can I do?

So Monday I went from the hotel to Puerto De La Cruz, watching all the celebrations going on on the streets because of the holiday. The rain was over and I even saw some sun at the end of the day.

Tuesday: waking up I saw clouds again, +20°C... still no internet... going for a walk in the other direction which lead through banana tree fields along the stony coast ... I even got a sun burn despite all the clouds lol the sun found it's way to my skin.

Third day here so far.... today I went to Santa Cruz which is the capital of this island. Not that impressing, but you sort of have to be there and guess what? They've got sun :) So finally at the other side of the volcano mountains they had sun. The sky was blue no cloud at all... my face is all read now....with all the sun I got today. Now I'm back at my hotel looking out of the window seeing all the clouds again, which will still be here tomorrow... and as you can see internet is fixed ;) successful day as you can see...

So see you tomorrow
hugs
/J.

It's been another month ...

I know I promised myself to write a blog more often. It doesn't feel good to think about one month back and what has happened within the month. And I'm not convinced that nobody really cares either.

I have a lot things to think about the past weeks... still looking for a new apartment, looking for my very first own car and trying to get my life sorted. I would like to start packing for the move but no interesting apartment so far. The ones that look good in the pictures it's always hard to get an appointment and when it finally fits into my schedule is the apartment gone. So no real news here.

Yesterday was the yearly Avon Run - 5km distance in 30:08 gross isn't that bad. But I have a bad cold, so I couldn't breathe most of the time lol that's why I'm more than satisfied with the time, even though this years goal was to run less than 30 minutes. Pictures will follow as soon as I have some.

"And I..." Part II

The single of "And I" is now available as a download on www.bigbenexclusive.com !

sunny Sunday

... this week in numbers:
- 60 to 65 times of work
- one day with 18 hours
- one day with 13 hours
- 3 days with approx. 10 hours
- 2 viewings that were planned
- 1 that took place at the end
- 20°C today and a sunny day, which makes me longing for summer
- 1 friend that celebrated her birthday

enough of that ;) today was a good day I slept longer than the past weeks, which is just an indicator for how stressful the past week was. The viewing that was planned today didn't take place because the agent didn't show up... so I spent the rest of the day in Spandau, walking along the water, enjoying the sun.

Now I'm working on my secret project, which I'm behind with a lot... the plan was originally to have it ready by now, but plans never work out so I just have to work a little more on that.

Let's see what the next week will bring...

"And I"

The 2nd video from the album Nightmove is already up :) Check out :) www.bigbenexclusive.com

Veckans Blog

... week 1 of April is done .... 3 more to go ...

Today I was viewing another apartment. It was like 60 qm, with a 1 room apartment and another room that I thought was already finished. But nope. From that room you could go upstairs to the roof, which had to be rebuilt... Before I went there I had really the idea I could move into the existing apartment and finish the rest while living there. I just love to do works like that. But this property was just a mess lol So I left after 10 minutes.

The existing apartment had to be re-built as well, so no idea to just move there :) I have 2 apartments left though ... let's see if one of that is my dream apartment :)

I need another sign ...

Since the beginning of the year I'm looking for a new apartment. Then I found that super duper apartment ... but it was for sale. When I finally decided to contact them for a viewing and took the possibility into consideration that I would buy that apartment it was too late ... it was already sold. Because of the fact that all the apartments that were for rent were so totally not my taste and very old fashioned I decided to look for other apartments to buy. I was really convinced that this was the only way.

But all the apartments I looked at were again not what I wanted. Esp. when you buy a property everything has to be alright ... and again I know exactly what I want...

Today I thought again about if I really wanna bind me that much and give up my current "free" lifestyle to do whatever I like whenever I like ... and then I had a very long and good talk with Anja. Which helped me a lot ... I think she was my sign :) Thanks so much Lieblingsfreundin :)

great seminar

so now I'm prepared ... the past 2 days I had a seminar about evolution and leadership, which was very interesting and gave good perspectives on things but it also showed what is not so good in the current structure of our company. I got a lot of input and now I have to deal with that. I leaned that I have to breathe when the world just seems to tumble down on me and esp. before I reply to provocative emails. The question is if I have the time to really do that in the every day work. time will tell, but I just wanted to write that even after a 6-days-week it was worth it. I feel strengthened now ... so far ... reality will tell ;)

I wish I could scream out loud ...

.... today was one of the days I got headache from all the stress I have around me ... nothing is as worse if colleagues are trying to get you down ... I'm not going into details, but I have 2 of those who see it as a sport to put me under pressure ...

Today I worked from 8 to 7 and I can tell I'm totally exhausted ... I feel like I have worked like 48 hours in a row. So since I'm not at work tomorrow (I have a seminar tomorrow and on Saturday) I had to finish certain works. I got an assistant since monday but she has to be fed with information and instructions before she can work, so this doesn't make things easier, even though she is a nice person and very eager to work.

Anyway today was one of the days I wished I had a room I could walk into and just scream ... a punching ball would be fine too.

So enough complaints for today

Life upside down ...

So much is going on in my little life right now ... I'm looking for a new apartment, I got promoted in my job, which means that I'm the leader of my property management department now, I cancelled the membership of my gym lol and I'm about to get a car. I'm not sure what is more creepy right now.

I'm visiting apartments every minute off, but nothing really interesting came up so far...

ah and since last week I'm having trouble with my windows computer. Sometimes I wonder how I would manage with this crappy windows if I wasn't having my mac as well ...

Déjà Vu

I had it last year and it doesn't seem any better this year ... with my winter sicknesses. I don't know what is wrong. I try my best to take care of my health but it doesn't seem to help. Last Tuesday I got up at 3:30 after just 3 hours sleep because I was going to Frankfurt and the plan was to go from there to Düsseldorf in the evening.
When I went to the airport I had headache already but I thought it was because of the little sleep I had. The day before I started to cough which I thought was an allergy. During the day I realised that I was going to be sick. It went worse every hour. Thank God my boss was with us and decided that I could go home with them in the evening.

I felt terrible and went to the doctor the day after. From Wednesday on I sleept almost the whole time, but the fever didn't go down. Since today I don't have any fever but I will have to go to the doctor tomorrow again because just one day without fever isn't enough to go back to work, if you still have a cold as much as I still have.

The bad thing is only that I was supposed to go to London tomorrow ... and I wanted that soooo bad. Anyway you don't always get what you want ... I know. I hope I can be back to work on Wednesday.

Nightmove - The Album

It's finally there the 4th studio album from Big Ben is available now. Soundsclips can be listened to on www.bigbenexclusive.com in the Nightmove section. There you can also purchase the album :)))

I Can't Get No Sleep

I'm having this problem for like 2 weeks now. I wake up around 5 am and have trouble to continue sleeping afterwards, since I can sleep until 6.30 am at least before I have to get up. Normally I like waking up before the alarm clock goes, because then you have the feeling that your body is really awake, but this concludes in that I'm tired half of the day and fall asleep quiet early for me during the evening.

Yesterday I thought I would be smart, drank a coffee in the evening so I stayed up until 1 am before I went to bed, with the result that I woke up at 6 am and couldn't sleep again ... plus it's saturday today so I really could sleep until 10 at least :( This annoys me!

Big Ben - For Infinity

Btw. I just thought of that I haven't posted our current video to the song "For Infinity" which is the upcoming single of our coming album "Nightmove". So enjoy :)

And btw. the song can be purchased on www.bigbenexclusive.com :)

travelling

Another day of having been in Oberhausen. Since yesterday I have an official cold ... I'm sneezing the whole day, so I skipped choir yesterday due to that fact, the fact that I was going up at 4 am today and I was sooooo tired. So I went home directly.

I was also tired today, so the cold has conquered my whole body right now, but now I'm save home. I didn't have to take the last flight today since there was none at 20:45, so lucky me had to catch the one at 18:50 which meant I was home by 20:45, when I usually take off.

It wasn't that much today besides work that happened so I won't bore you with work.

Oh Anja has a cold too, I really hope she is gonna be better soon :)

Job move

I'm totally exhausted. Today was day 2 of our job move. We are moving north of the city into the centre of Berlin. The move is actually ongoing the past 2 weeks. Which means that you started to sort your stuff, throw away a lot. I found out that I am a messy. I have no idea why but I collected tonz of file lables the 4,5 years I'm working there, so that was the first what I put into the bin :) Yesterday was the first big moving day, when we put all our files into boxes and the moving company took them out of the office.

We have been growing a lot since I started there. When I started working in that company I was one of 6 people, now we have working stations for 35.

Today was the second day of the move, which means the first day in the new office. The furniture came and along with it all the boxes. So it was more or less navigation since the last changes of seats has been made today. And I connected some computers.

I love my new office. From a seven people office I moved into a 2 persons office and one seat is still empty.

My feet are aching so much as if I had been walking the whole day. Tomorrow is the last day of the move. All my colleagues will come and put their files and stuff at their places :) Nothing is more exciting than the first day in a new place :)

She did great ... but she didn't make it

Jenny Berggren was participating in the Danish pre-finals for the ESC in Düsseldorf with the smash hit "Let Your Heart Be Mine" a very cool and very ESC song, that is getting right into the brain. I had just listened to the song one time before, since I had to be informed what was going on lol. I didn't have had time though last week to get deeper into this song unfortunately nr to upload it in my iPod but I didn't have to since it was stuck in my head from this one time listening. No doubt that Jenny has a great taste ... music, husband, friends lol ... aaaanyway.

I had rehearsals yesterday so I didn't have had the time to follow the show. Too bad, but on my way home in the middle of the night I was checking the results. I was down when I read that Jenny did a great performance but wasn't chosen as the winner. Somehow I was sure she was gonna make it to the finals. So I won't go to Düsseldorf with Anja May 14th instead of that we will take part in the Avon women run against breast cancer. Another great opportunity to spend the day, eventhough I would have loved to see Jenny in the ESC :(

one month already :)

One month already that I got my DL ... again ... how time flies. So much happened in this month, good and bad. It's all touching me deep inside, to see friends suffer, to see other people that are happy because I made their day. Life is filled with ups and downs ...

I started my training again ... soon the next run is taking place. But today I cacelled the membership in my gym, since it just takes me too long to go there and there are soooo many gyms in Berlin, it shouldn't be hard to find one close to me.

Freitag, 11. Februar 2011

When you think it can't go on ...

... then you are in my shoes lol... I have been to our new office today. It's 3 weeks now until we move. If you ask me I get the best office out of all that I have seen from the whole space :) I will sit there with someone else, which means we will only be 2 people in the office. Currently we are almost sitting on each other with 7 people in one room, that was originally planned for 4 people. I can't stand it anymore, it's loud and hard to work there esp. when you have things to do which need high concentration. So that is a big plus.

And I worked so much again this week, although it was only 3 days long. Thank God I went to the gym on Tuesday when I was off, since I worked until 7 the next 2 days and today from 7-4:30 I'm totally exhausted...

ok enough complaints :)

Back home and day off

The day yesterday was mostly traveling. We had to leave the hostel at 10:00 am did the last shopping, went to the airport and home. I was home at 6 pm finally, Anja had a longer way since she was going to her parents right after. I spent the evening relaxing on my sofa, working on my project and enjoying myself.

Today I have a day off. I never did that before. Normally I go to work the day after returning from my trips. So this is a little extra. I slept to 8:30 now I have the painter in my flat, since there are some things to be done here. I'm currently looking for a new one though, since here is too much to fix, my work is moving soon, so coming closer to my new working place would be a nice bonus and I'm just sick and tired of the property management company. It takes them ages to get things fixed and that just annoys me. And I have to fit in the repairs in the early hours before work, which is not always going well.

The plan for today is let the painter do his work :) go to the gym later on and buy some food. That's basically it :) Oh it's beautiful weather today. Since I saw all the snow that is left in Stockholm being back home with +8 feels like spring.

Sonntag, 6. Februar 2011

Stockholm

Today was a tourist day :) Stockholm was beautiful today with a lot of sun and a clear sky, just perfect to go around and take pictures. Our short trip will be over tomorrow. It's always equally hard to arrive back in reality with all those impressions in your brain, esp. after such a short short-trip as soon as you have realized you are in another country/city you are home again wondering if it really happened. Luckily I have all those pictures to remember that this was real :) I will be off on Tuesday as well, a chance to get some things done at home and to finally go to the gym again :)

It's been a while...

again :) I know I had so many ambitions to keep this blog alive, but I just have not enough time. A lot has happened that would be worth writing about, but time just seems to get by faster and faster every day. I for example passed my driving test, which means I'm able to finally drive cars. Now that's good news, huh? lol still I'm not able to drive rented cars for another year, so Anja is still on her own driving through Sweden with me, which is actually where we are now.

We went to Stockholm yesterday for a concert of Jenny Berggren... again. It was great. Well you didn't really expect me to write something different, did you? Anyway, she was doing a performance with Terese Fredenwall and Simon Petrén at Enebykyrkan, somewhere in the outskirts of Stockholm. This place must be brand new, since our GPS didn't find it. So we ended up driving around for a long time again to find the church. But in the end we arrived. We had just hung our coats when we saw Jenny waiting outside in the cold, since the door was locked. We let her in and she wasn't really surprised seeing us being there long before time. We went in with her talked about how we had been, received a warm hug from her and Terese. Then they had to prepare themselves and do the soundcheck, so we also found a seat in the front row and got our equipment prepared.

The concert/lecture started at 7 p.m. and was simply great as usual. Perfect to just sit there and forget about your everyday life which is waiting for us back in Germany filled with stress and huge amounts of work. The setlist was as follows:

Moonshadow
Let My People Go
No More Nights
Give Me The Faith
Ravine

Encore by Terese:
To You

I will continue the list as soon I can think of more.

The people were very eager to listen to the presentation of the book and didn't really want her to stop talking :)

When everything was over, Jenny and Terese sold her albums and the new paperback book, while we ran around, taking pictures and also having a snack which they offered. We accompanied Louiza and her friend who were there as well. Short after that Jenny joined us sitting around the table. She asked us about the great news that she is going to Denmark to perform at the ESC election there and we agreed that this was great news. So we chatted a bit about that and also about the upcoming concert in Russia next week. We agreed that the competition in Denmark would be a great boost for her album and even book but that she has to see how it works.

Even though she said in the beginning that she had to leave very soon we spent quite a long time with her and even Terese. We went home 10:30 p.m. after a long exciting day :)

Sunday is almost over

... and I start to get a little nervous about tomorrow. It's always like that if I haven't been at work, no matter if I traveled or was sick or whatever the first day or better the night before the first day I can't sleep. I don't know why. I wake up every 2nd hour at least and feel bad the rest of the day. Tomorrow I will go to the choir again.

I feel still a bit weak, but that can be the case because of the fact that I still don't have any appetite and didn't eat that much the past week. We will see what will happen tomorrow when I'm in my regular times again, without 10 hours of sleep.

I'm still working on my secret project and I'm like 2/3 through it. It feels good :)

So I will enjoy the rest of what is left of Sunday, maybe watch a movie, write some emails and go to bed early :)

Not that much today, huh?

Finally the Jungle Camp is back

I know, no one ever missed that and I know no one is ever watching it. But I do, I always did. I don't know really what is more interesting, to see which German Z-Celebs they found for the current season, what tasks they will get, the group things, when people get together and when hierarchies are developing. It all is very interesting. I loved psychology classes in school and I love watching those grown up people of any age becoming nothing more than kindergarden kids, at least character wise.

There are a lot people inside that I never paid attention to but who I will get to know in the coming 2 weeks.

So today was the kick off show, the people moved into the camp. The first one had her Playboy pictures before the show and made some cash out of the show already before it even started.

The mixture in the team couldn't be better:

Eva Jacob - singer of the Jacob sisters who seem to be around 70 by now
Thomas Ruprath - swimmer (never heard of him before)
Mathieu Carrier - I think he is an actor in the programs I normaly don't watch
Rainer Langhans - Hippy and must be around 60 - is vegetarian
Per Kusmargk - former breakfast TV man
Gitta Saxx - Playboy Bunny
Kathy Karrenbauer - former actress with no money, she went bankrupt and that's probably the reason she is moving into the camp
Indira Weis - former member of the second Popstars band in Germany "Brosis"
Frank "Froonck" Mathee - the gay member of this season, wedding planner of Sara Connor etc etc ..... yet another Z-Celeb
Jay Khan - former US5 singer, who obviously also needs money
Sarah Knappik - Germany's Next Topmodel (oh how I said it the other day to A. Text Nopmodel) participant - she never made it into the top 5 I think

Today's first task was jungle dentist, where they had to put all kinds of animals into their mouth, disgusting .... but they should do something for the money they get ...

Off for today :)

N-O-T-H-I-N-G

what do you experience when you are at home because you are sick? right, nothing .... the only thing I can tell is that I haven't slept as much the past year as I did this week. I have no idea what is going on. I'm probably catching up all the sleep I didn't get during summer... can human beings do winter sleep? I guess some do ... which includes me!

:)

2010 the finish

I didn't write my New Year Blog yet and I found a quite nice query in Swedish which I thought would be worth posting in English: So here is my official back-view on 2010...

1. Did you do anything you haven't done before?
Yepp, I had the chance to visit an amusement park by night. This was magic, also the light heartedness around us, just magic :)

2. Did you keep any of your new years promises from 2009?
I think the only I made was working less .... which I failed big time...

3. Became any of your friends parents this year?
Yepp, little Pauline was born on May 1st, which is national holiday in Germany. She is the daughter of one of my fave colleagues and a beautiful and smart little lady :)

4. Did someone close to you die?
Nope...

5. Which countries have you been to?
Sweden, of course and I think more than ever. Oh and Gran Canaria, which means Spain :)
